Presentation

The course summarizes the available evidence regarding the burden of disease associated with HPV infection in both women and men, the efficacy of HPV vaccines in different populations and at-risk groups, as well as the impact and effectiveness of routine HPV vaccination programs. It also reviews the evidence on the safety of these vaccines and addresses various aspects of vaccine hesitancy that will enable professionals to acquire knowledge and skills to address it in their routine practice. The objective of the course is to improve knowledge and one-to-one communication on HPV vaccination of healthcare providers working with young people and their parents/carers and those delivering public health messaging. The course scientific director is Dr. Maria Brotons, a Medical Specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health from the Cancer Epidemiology Research Programme, at the Catalan Institute of Oncology, Barcelona, Spain. This course has been developed within the PROTECT-EUROPE project, co-funded by the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) under the European Union’s EU4Health (EU4H) programme 2021-2027 (Grant agreement No. 101080046). The E-learning material has been prepared in March 2024 and it is based on pre-existing training material from the Catalan Institute of Oncology in Spanish that has been translated into English, reviewed by project partners  and updated. The E-learning material includes the main findings from PROTECT-EUROPE project tasks aimed to identify good practice in one-to-one communication on HPV vaccination between clinicians and young people and their parents/carers. "Co-funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA).
